Challenge
Picking desks in the office is too chaotic
Like any other company, MR Datentechnik was affected by the pandemic. The once appreciated large office spaces were now empty due to frequent lockdowns. Hardly a surprise, considering the majority of employees worked from home and only a few continued venturing to the office. However, employees quickly took a liking to this initially unusual situation: employees enjoyed that offices were quiet, and since the company had implemented docking stations and laptops already before Covid-19, it was easy for employees to work from wherever they wanted. They appreciated the free desks and as a result took the chance to sit at different workplaces every day in order to bond with new colleagues.
It seems like MR Datentechnik has overcome this extremely difficult time rather well. But how are things now after the pandemic? Chaotic, and employees often look annoyed when they’re on site. One would think that people are happy to go back to the office and are looking forward to seeing their colleagues again. Unfortunately, the situation is not as rosy. Employees occupy their colleagues’ recently found favorite desks and the daily search for a suitable workplace in the morning is becoming increasingly longer. And on top of that, only half of the team members needed for a joint project can be found in the office.
Solution
The implementation of deskbird
MR Datentechnik quickly realized that they needed to introduce a software that will improve the situation and facilitate coordination. The most important requirements for the tool were already clear: efficient desk booking and fast check-ins via QR codes were considered crucial features. In addition, a seamless integration into already existing systems needed to be possible, so that repeated password entries could be avoided. Of course the price-performance ratio had to fit as well. However, top priority was the ease-of-use of the app.
MR Datentechnik tested various tools and consulted several people about their experience, and in the end deskbird was victorious. According to MR Datentechnik, it was the more expensive tool in a direct comparison, but convinced with a better overview, a more intuitive user interface and a nicer user experience. The implementation of deskbird went quickly and smoothly, and employees are looking forward to working with the workplace management app.
